About Capoeira Mandara
Founded on tradition, community, and excellence, our global capoeira school connects cultures through the art of movement.
Our story
Capoeira Mandara was established with a vision to preserve and promote the authentic traditions of Capoeira while creating a global community of practitioners. Our journey began with a small group of dedicated students and has grown into an international organization with schools across multiple continents.
Our approach combines respect for the historical roots of Capoeira with innovative teaching methods, making this rich cultural art form accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds. We emphasize not just the physical aspects of Capoeira but also its cultural significance, music, and philosophy.

Our philosophy
We believe that Capoeira is more than a martial art or dance – it’s a way of life that promotes physical fitness, mental resilience, and community building. Our teaching philosophy is guided by these core values:
Respect
We honor the traditions and history of Capoeira, showing respect to the masters who preserved this art through generations.
Inclusion
Our doors are open to everyone regardless of age, background, or ability. We believe Capoeira has something valuable to offer to all.
Continuous Growth
We encourage lifelong learning and personal development, understanding that the journey in Capoeira never truly ends.
About Capoeira Mandara
Our History
Capoeira Mandara was founded on November 29, 2007 in Barcelona, Spain by Luiz Gonzaga de Sá Junior (Mestre Luiz Junior), who remains the current president of the organization. The group was created with the purpose of promoting Capoeira in all its aspects, both directly and indirectly, recognizing Capoeira as Brazil’s most important cultural manifestation and a powerful instrument for popular, social, and racial integration.
Capoeira Mandara is a free and open entity for any person regardless of race, class, gender, or age. The group has become an important entity in spreading Capoeira both nationally and internationally through courses, seminars, lectures, social projects, and practical and theoretical training. Today, the group is present in several Brazilian states and internationally in Brazil, Spain, Italy, France, Germany, Mozambique, Angola, and Portugal.
Our Mission
To preserve and promote the authentic cultural heritage of Capoeira while making it accessible to people of all backgrounds, ages, and abilities around the world.
Our Values
CAPOEIRA MANDARA GROUP has as its direct objective to spread capoeira as the philosophy of its work, whether seeking the development of the technical, theoretical, and didactic-pedagogical level of Capoeira as art, fight, culture, profession, sport, and life philosophy. We seek to recover the appreciation of Old Masters as important representatives of capoeira and genuine Brazilian traditional culture. We aim to contribute to the formation of Capoeira professionals based on respect, discipline, socialization, dignity, and freedom of expression as citizens in society, seeking the enhancement of character, dignity, and personal worth.
